Pop-up
Ads and Pop-under Ads
Pop-under
ads are used in online advertising to grab the attention of a visitor
while they are viewing a web site or when they leave a site. Advertisers
often use pop-ads as a way to target their ad campaigns and generate valid
click-throughs to their web site at a low cost.
Pop-ups
Explained Pop-up ads are browser windows that "pop up"
when someone is viewing certain web sites. If you pay for a pop-up ad
campaign, your ad will appear on many different web sites. This pop-up
advertising can be targeted or un-targeted pop-ads depending on where
you buy them.
Example:
You purchase 10,000 pop-ads through a pop-up or pop-under advertising
service. You can create a separate ad for this pop-up ad OR you can use
your existing web site page. Your existing web site can be set to trigger
to "pop-up" and appear to web visitors when they are visiting
those participating sites that have placed certain java or html pop-ad
coding on their web sites. When someone visits that particular web site
they will see your ad or web site when it pops up on the screen in their
web browser. Those visitors can do one of two things - click on your ad
or close the window.
Your campaign
runs until you've received the number of pop-ups or pop-unders that you
purchased.
Pop-unders
Explained Another ad similar to a pop-up ad is a pop-under ad.
It works the same way as a pop-up ad except that the pop-under window
will appear underneath the main existing browser window that the web visitor
is viewing. Web cisitors will not see the pop-under ad until they close
the main window or minimize it.
Pop-unders
are more discreet and are not as annoying to many web surfers, so some
advertisers are choosing this route instead of pop-ups.
Great
Tip! #1
Statistics show that pop-under ads will outperform pop-up
ads by almost 5 - 1! In other words pop-under ads will usually generate
5 times better click-thru rates that pop-ups. Consequently, pop-ups
are always sold at a much cheaper price than pop-unders. Additionally,
when reaching for the most successful pop-under ad campaigns your
success will also depend on the level of targeting that you can
attain. The more targeting the greater the response and click-thru
rates.
Using
Pop-Ads on Your Web Site Pop-up or pop-under ads are usually
created using JavaScript or various html coding methods. They are triggered
by a code that tells the pop-up when to open and when not to open. Some
pop-up ads are programmed to open only on the first visit to a web page
and then it is hid from that visitor when they return to the site so as
not to annoy the visitor.
Popular
Ads for Pop-up Campaigns Pop-up or pop-under ads can be used
to advertise a sale you're having at your site, display a discount offer
or simply to promote your newsletter. Probably one of the best ways to
ensure that your visitors come back to your site later is to ask for their
email address through an email subscription form that offers updates,
special offers or a free ezine. Pop-ads work great for this.
Great
Tip! #2
A great peice of email marketing software that offers pop-under
ads as a built-in feature to integrate the email subscription and
opt-in process is ListKingPro. Using pop-unders in this way on your
own web site will undoubtedly improve your ability to grow your
own opt-in email list.
Pop-up and
pop-under campaigns can be an effective marketing tool if you carefully
choose where your pop-ads will appear and if you have crafted and designed
your ads for maximum click-thru response. Testing is the key and it is
important to make updates and improvements whereever possible. Pop-ads
are also a very popular "branding" tool to help build your brand
awareness with your audience.
